What Came Back With You (2020)

This piece started as part of my tenure at the COUNTERCLOCK Arts Collective, as a response to the theme ‘1919’. Here I cast the trombone as an alien entity, learning to speak by mimicking a wax-cylinder recording of a comedy routine from that year. The found audio comes from UC Santa Barbara’s excellent wax cylinder archive.
